Music is the friend that tells you what you need to hear even if you never knew you needed to hear it.  We have all been through heartache and a song like Ne-Yo’s “So Sick” comes on, you know the one:

And I’m so sick of love songs
So tired of tears
So done with wishing
You were still here
Said, I’m so sick of love songs
So sad and slow
So why can’t I turn off the radio?

Or even Goodie Mobb’s Get Up Get Out:

N****, you need to git up, git out and git something
Don’t let the days of your life pass by
You need to git up, git out and git something
Don’t spend all your time trying to get high
You need git up, git out and git something
How will you make it if you never even try
You need to git up, git out and git something
‘Cause you and I got to do for you and I.

Music to me is the medicine of the world.  Waveforms that express and want to heal at every step of the way. Going through a tuff breakup and remember hearing Ne-Yo so sick and it was speaking to me.  When you love someone and share so much life with them there are so many things left to remember them by and hearing someone else sing it you stop feeling so alone.

The Goodie Mobb song was a life wake-up call. It came out when I was in high school but I remember sitting down on the couch smoking some weed and the song had popped on the radio.  The lyrics hit me like I am and can be more than this and it set me on a journey to living and making the best out of the situations I have been given.

In my last entry, I was talking about preparing to DJ a wedding and it being my first time Djing the learning process has been interesting, to say the least.  I had worked hard gathering a load of music only to delete about 6000 songs and start over. Something to me was a little off.  I had been trying to figure it out When it hit me I stopped enjoying the music and it started to feel like work. Music is meant to be about feeling. I started playing songs I love and as soon as I began doing that the feeling came back. We lose a lot of passion for things when we start to think of them as a job. We forget how much we love it. Safe to say that my library is back with over 10000 songs that I enjoy. I am hoping by April I will be able to create I mix for you guys on here and get your feedback.

One last thing I wanted to share is Puffy’s new music label called Love Records and an EP by his new artist named Jozzy called Songs for Women, Free Game For N*****.  Now that sounds like medicine for the Tindr generation to me.

Until Next time
